Mike is so incredibly knowledgeable about light, he should teach a course. Oh… right… he does. His demonstration of what you can and can’t do with light is ten minutes very well spent by anyone considering remodeling or buildings a home. The guy knows his stuff. Can’t recommend enough.

I am someone who is very hard to please but I cannot say enough good things about Mike and Jessica. I was worried about the lighting in a home that we are building. Right from the ‘get-go’ I knew that we were in good hands. Mike’s knowledge and expertise is incredible and Jessica is amazing. I so appreciated the generous amount of time that they have given to us to explain the lighting plan that they have designed . That plan is amazing! I am the type that needs to know the rationale behind certain things, so learning the reason behind the placement and type of each light fixture, switch and electrical outlet was very helpful. And Mike did so in a very engaging way! It was actually fun. He also incorporated a number of features that we would never have thought about but know that we will really appreciate. This plan will make our home not only lovelier but also much more enjoyable and safer. After looking at a gadzillion Pinterest photos it is really nice to have someone (Jessica) to guide me through the selection of light fixtures. I can’t believe how perceptive she is in selecting options that I may like. I highly recommend Designing with Light. The cost was very reasonable and worth every cent!

We hired this company to come up with a lighting design for our new home. They came recommended to us by our next door neighbour who had hired them to do the lighting plan for their home. Since we were living in another province much of our communications were done via telephone and e-mail. I have to say that I was very impressed both with the plan that was provided and with the service. The owner, Mike Bentien was a pleasure to deal with and, has gone above and beyond the level of service we expected. The electricians hired by the builder did a terrible job of placing the dining room light fixtures and the pendant lights in the kitchen, and to boot they installed fixtures too high and then threw away the additional rods that came with the Murray Feiss fixtures. Mike obtained a new set at no additional charge to us. We were happy with the lighting design. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to do a lighting design and shopping for lights.
We are planning a new build, and our architect suggested we meet with a lighting designer. My first meeting with him was at his studio. He showed me how important placement of lighting in your home is so important. He had many projects he had done to showcase. Great person to work with, that has your best interest at heart.
